Report On Empowerment Program By Cope And Live MHA, Rangers Fc Foundations

01

Introduction

The significance of psychosocial engagement in empowerment programs, skill acquisition, and transformative interventions is critical for fostering mental clarity, self-awareness, and purpose among beneficiaries. Psychosocial engagement equips individuals with the tools to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and the relevance of opportunities provided, enabling them to unlock their potential and navigate mental, psychological, and emotional challenges. This holistic approach to mental health acknowledges the interconnectedness of body, soul, and spirit, emphasizing that true success stems from comprehensive well-being.

Activity Details

On July 14, 2025, the Office of the Enugu State PDP Women Leader hosted the first phase of an empowerment program titled "Crowned with Confidence: Awakening the Power, Purpose, and Pride in Every Young Queen." The event, held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Gender Affairs, Enugu, targeted over 200 young girls and women. The program focused on the following key areas:

- Enhancing self-esteem and personal confidence

- Promoting mental health and self-awareness

- Developing critical thinking and brain health

- Instilling Taekwondo values, including survival skills, self-control, and an indomitable spirit

- Addressing time management, negative digital footprints, and self-discovery

Program Partnership

The initiative was organized by the Office of the Enugu State PDP Women Leader in collaboration with the Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation (CALMHAF), and the Rangers International Football Club (RIFC) Foundation. The partnership aimed to nurture a new generation of empowered, visionary young women capable of excelling in all facets of life.

Intervention Analysis

The intervention, facilitated by the Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation (CALMHAF), and Rangers International Football Club (RIFC) Foundation, adopted a practical and impactful approach with measurable outcomes. Participants engaged in sessions designed to deepen their understanding of mental health, self-confidence, and barriers to self-esteem. They explored the interplay between choices, decision-making, emotions, and behaviors. Practical exercises on resilience and team-building emphasized strategies to overcome mental and emotional challenges, encouraging participants to leverage these experiences for personal growth.

Taekwondo sessions introduced participants to survival skills and self-defense, reinforcing self-control and resilience. Additionally, the program highlighted the importance of brain health for effective decision-making and warned against the dangers of screen addiction and negative digital footprints. The intervention concluded with solution-based approaches to addressing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), focusing on the "2As" framework—Attention and Affection—to promote proactive responses to such issues.

Measurement of Outcomes

Participants demonstrated high engagement and commitment throughout the sessions. They showcased a clear understanding of low self-esteem, its vulnerabilities, and strategies to overcome it. They also exhibited improved awareness of mental clarity, brain health, and the importance of informed decision-making. Practical demonstrations by participants underscored their grasp of the concepts introduced.

To ensure sustained impact, a follow-up evaluation phase is planned, during which participants will select specific skills to develop further and receive starter packs to support their progress.

Conclusion

The empowerment program successfully delivered transformative psychosocial interventions, equipping young women with the tools to enhance their confidence, mental health, and decision-making abilities. The collaborative efforts of the Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation (CALMHAF), and Rangers International Football Club (RIFC) Foundation, have laid a strong foundation for fostering resilient, empowered, and purpose-driven young women in Enugu State. The anticipated second phase will further consolidate these outcomes, ensuring long-term impact.
