Executive Summary

The GlowPulse Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Bootcamp, hosted by the Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation (CALMHAF) in August 2025, empowered 35 children aged 6–15 with critical emotional intelligence skills to thrive in personal, academic, and social settings. Conducted over four transformative sessions in Enugu, Nigeria, the bootcamp employed engaging activities, including play therapy, multi-sport engagements, art expression, mindfulness exercises, role-playing, and targeted lessons on resilience, boundaries, emotional validation, and appropriate emotional expression. Led by Executive Director Reverend Chukwudiebube Nwachukwu and coordinated by Coli Mental Health Academy, the program delivered measurable outcomes, aligning with CALMHAF’s mission to promote mental health awareness and youth development. Supported by partners such as The Andover Hotel, Rangers International Football Club Foundation, MTN, Mental Health Universe (Uganda), Raphatech, Qaps, and Carmelite Prisoners Interest Organization (CAPIO), the bootcamp created a lasting impact on participants, their families, schools, and the broader community.

Program Overview

The GlowPulse EQ Bootcamp was a four-week program held every Tuesday in August 2025 (August 5, 12, 19, and 26) from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Designed for children aged 6–15, the bootcamp aimed to equip participants with emotional intelligence skills to navigate life’s challenges. The curriculum featured interactive workshops, mindfulness exercises, role-playing scenarios, empathy-building games, self-confidence boosters, multi-sport activities, art expression, and specialized sessions on resilience, boundaries, emotional validation, and appropriate emotional expression, all facilitated by trained professionals in a safe, inclusive environment.

Opening Ceremony

On August 5, 2025, at The Andover Hotel, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, General Manager of Rangers International Football Club, delivered an inspiring keynote, urging participants to embrace emotional intelligence as a tool for personal growth and leadership, setting a motivational tone for the bootcamp.

Second Day: Emotional Intelligence Foundations

On August 12, 2025, at the Cope and Live MHA Foundation Resource Centre in Independence Layout, Enugu, participants engaged in a foundational session focused on understanding emotions, building empathy, and learning appropriate emotional expression. This session was pivotal in laying the groundwork for emotional intelligence development. Key activities and lessons included:

Types of Emotions and Their Differences, Empathy and Compassion, Five Components of Emotional Intelligence, Origins of Feelings and Emotions, Where to Express Emotions, Steps to Master Empathy, Group Activities:

This session equipped participants with a deeper understanding of their emotional landscape, the tools to cultivate empathy, and the ability to express emotions appropriately in various contexts.

Play Therapy Day

August 19, 2025, at De Angelo event Centre, Golf Estate, Enugu. This session featured multi-sport activities (e.g., soccer, chess, scrabble, ludo, table tennis) and art expression (e.g., drawing, painting).

Closing Ceremony

Held on August 26, 2025, at Roots Restaurant, Enugu, the closing ceremony emphasized Boundaries and Building Resilience. Key activities included:

Expert Facilitation

Led by and coordinated by Cope and Live Mental Health awareness Foundation and Coli Mental Health Academy, and their team of trained facilitators using tailored activities to enhance participants’ developmental needs, ensuring an inclusive environment.

Outcomes and Future Directions

The bootcamp engaged 35 children, delivering improvements in emotional regulation, social skills, resilience, and self-compassion. Feedback highlighted increased confidence, better peer interactions, and stronger family bonds. The program’s SEL alignment positions it as a scalable model.
