Our Approach
At Cope and Live Foundation, we believe mental health is a universal right. Our Community Outreach programs are built on education, accessibility, and compassion. We engage communities through:
- Workshops and Training: Interactive sessions on mental health conditions versus illnesses, coping mechanisms (including innovative approaches like Multi-Sports and Art Therapy), and strategies for emotional well-being.
- Awareness Campaigns: Bold campaigns that challenge stigma and spark conversations in schools, workplaces, and public spaces.
- Crisis Support: Rapid mental health care for populations affected by natural disasters, internal displacement, or other crises.
- Community Engagement: Tailored programs that foster connection and resilience in urban and rural settings.
Our goal is to empower individuals with knowledge, tools, and support to navigate mental health challenges and thrive.
Key Programs
Our outreach programs are designed to address diverse mental health needs through creative, evidence-based, and community-focused initiatives. Below are some of our flagship offerings:
Mental Health Education and Stigma Reduction
We deliver workshops and training in schools, prisons, corporate offices, and community centers to educate on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and the importance of seeking help. Our programs leverage media and social media to amplify messages and break down myths.
- Emotional Intelligence and Self-Awareness Bootcamps: These intensive workshops empower participants to understand and manage emotions, build self-confidence, and foster healthy relationships, particularly for youth and professionals.
- Suicide Prevention Training: Targeted sessions equip community members, educators, and workplace leaders with tools to recognize warning signs, intervene effectively, and connect individuals to support.
- Stress Management Workshops: Practical sessions teach techniques like mindfulness, breathing exercises, and time management to reduce stress and enhance well-being in high-pressure environments.
Example Initiative: Our #MindMatters Campaign uses radio, social media, and community events to share recovery stories, inspiring hope across Nigeria.
Creative and Therapeutic Interventions
We harness the power of creativity and community to promote healing and resilience, particularly for vulnerable populations.
- Spark & Heal Art Therapy Bootcamps: These immersive programs use creative expression (painting, drawing, and more) to help participants process emotions, reduce anxiety, and build self-esteem, with a focus on children, adolescents, and trauma survivors.
- Safe Spaces Anti-Bullying Workshops: Designed for educators, schools and youth groups, these workshops create supportive environments, teaching strategies to combat bullying and promote empathy.
- Calm Under Pressure Hospitality Packages: Tailored mental health support for hospitality workers, combining stress management, emotional intelligence training, and wellness resources to address workplace pressures.
Example Initiative: Our Art Therapy Bootcamps have empowered young people in Enugu schools to express their experiences of bullying through art, fostering healing and dialogue.
Addressing Gender-Based Violence and Workplace Challenges
We tackle systemic issues that impact mental health, offering specialized programs to support survivors and promote safer environments.
- SGBV Solutions Packages: Comprehensive programs provide counseling, awareness, and empowerment for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, alongside community education to prevent violence.
- Workplace Anti-Bullying Workshops: Targeted training for corporate settings to identify, address, and prevent bullying, fostering healthier, more inclusive workplaces.
Example Initiative: Our SGBV Solutions Packages have supported women in rural communities through group therapy and skills training, helping them rebuild confidence and independence.
Crisis Intervention and Support
We provide immediate mental health care to communities affected by natural disasters, internal displacement, or socio-economic crises. Our crisis response teams offer counseling, psychosocial support, and resources to rebuild emotional resilience.
Example Initiative: In partnership with local NGOs, we’ve delivered trauma-focused therapy to displaced families in Borno State and other communities in northern Nigeria, addressing the psychological impacts of conflict.
Community-Based Mental Health Campaigns
Our campaigns meet people where they are—city markets, rural villages, or online. We collaborate with community leaders, schools, and media to promote mental health awareness and access to resources, focusing on underserved populations.
Example Initiative: Our Multi-Sports Program, handled by our partner - Rangers International Football Club Foundation, uses physical activity to promote mental wellness, teaching youth and underserved groups how exercise reduces stress and boosts self-esteem.
Our Impact
Cope and Live Foundation has touched countless lives through our outreach efforts. From training teachers to recognize mental distress in students to providing therapy for inmates, our programs make a difference. We’ve reached thousands through campaigns, supported hundreds in crisis, and empowered communities to prioritize mental health. Our work is guided by the belief that everyone deserves to cope and live with dignity and hope.
