Women’s Health & Hygiene
Welcome to the Women’s Health and Hygiene page at Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation! We are committed to empowering women and girls across Nigeria and beyond by addressing critical health and hygiene issues that profoundly impact their mental and physical well-being. Our initiatives focus on raising awareness, providing support, and fostering resilience around topics such as menstruation, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), ante-natal and postpartum depression, and more. Through education, advocacy, and compassionate programs, we aim to break taboos, reduce stigma, and create supportive environments where women can thrive. Our Approach
At Cope and Live Foundation, we believe that women’s health and hygiene are integral to mental health and overall well-being. Our Women’s Health and Hygiene programs are grounded in education, empowerment, and inclusivity. We engage communities through:
-Workshops and Training: Interactive sessions that educate women and communities on health and hygiene issues and their mental health impacts, offering practical solutions and coping strategies.
-Awareness Campaigns: Bold, stigma-breaking campaigns that spark conversations about women’s health in schools, community centers, media platforms, and beyond.
-Support Services: Tailored counseling and resources for women facing health-related mental health challenges, including survivors of violence and new mothers.
-Community Engagement: Collaborative programs that create safe spaces for women and girls to share experiences and access support, particularly in underserved areas.
Our goal is to equip women with the knowledge, resources, and support to navigate health challenges and live with dignity and confidence.
Key Programs
Our Women’s Health and Hygiene programs are designed to address the unique needs of women and girls through innovative, evidence-based, and community-driven initiatives. Below are some of our flagship offerings:
Education and Awareness on Women’s Health
We deliver workshops and campaigns to educate women, girls, and communities about health and hygiene issues that impact mental health, such as menstruation, reproductive health, and maternal mental health. Our programs leverage media, schools, and community platforms to challenge myths and promote understanding.
-Menstrual Health Workshops: These sessions provide education on menstrual hygiene, dispel myths, and distribute hygiene kits, empowering girls and women to manage menstruation with confidence and reduce associated stigma.
-Maternal Mental Health Bootcamps: Focused on ante-natal and postpartum depression, these bootcamps offer coping strategies, peer support, and professional counseling for pregnant women and new mothers.
-Self-Care and Hygiene Training: Practical workshops teach women and girls about personal hygiene, self-care practices, and their links to mental wellness, fostering self-esteem and resilience.
Example Initiative: Our #BreakTheTaboo Campaign uses social media, radio, and community events to normalize conversations about menstruation, reaching thousands of girls in rural Enugu and Lagos.
Addressing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence
We provide comprehensive support for survivors of SGBV and work to prevent violence through education and advocacy, recognizing its profound impact on mental health.
-SGBV Solutions Packages: These programs offer counseling, group therapy, and empowerment training for survivors, alongside community workshops to raise awareness and prevent violence.
-Safe Spaces for Survivors: Support groups and counseling sessions create safe environments for women and girls to heal from trauma, rebuild confidence, and connect with others.
Example Initiative: Our SGBV Solutions Packages have supported women in Borno State through trauma-focused therapy and vocational training, helping survivors regain independence and hope.
Maternal and Reproductive Mental Health Support
We address the mental health challenges associated with pregnancy, childbirth, and reproductive health, offering specialized programs to support women at every stage.
-Ante-Natal and Postpartum Support Groups: These groups provide emotional support, education, and counseling to help women navigate the psychological challenges of pregnancy and motherhood.
-Reproductive Health Awareness Workshops: Sessions educate women on reproductive health issues, their mental health impacts, and available resources, empowering informed decision-making.
Example Initiative: Our Maternal Mental Health Bootcamps in Abuja have empowered new mothers with coping strategies for postpartum depression, fostering stronger mother-child bonds.
Community-Based Women’s Health Campaigns
Our campaigns bring women’s health education to urban markets, rural villages, and online spaces. We collaborate with community leaders, schools, and media to promote access to health resources and challenge cultural stigmas.
-Hygiene Kit Distribution Drives: These initiatives provide free menstrual hygiene kits and health resources to girls and women in underserved communities, paired with educational workshops.
-#HerHealthMatters Campaign: A multimedia campaign that shares stories of women overcoming health-related mental health challenges, inspiring action and solidarity.
Example Initiative: Our Hygiene Kit Distribution Drives in northern Nigeria have reached hundreds of schoolgirls, reducing absenteeism due to menstruation and boosting their confidence.
Our Impact
Cope and Live Foundation has made significant strides in advancing women’s health and hygiene. From distributing thousands of hygiene kits to supporting survivors of SGBV with therapy, our programs have empowered women and girls to overcome barriers and prioritize their well-being. We’ve trained community leaders to advocate for women’s health, supported new mothers through postpartum challenges, and sparked conversations that challenge stigma. Our work is driven by the belief that every woman deserves access to the resources and support to live a healthy, fulfilling life.
